Default A few questions about Dana rear's & 58mm TB

Ok so tomm im goin to this guys house who claims he owns a Dana 36 with 3.07's gears in it from a 86 corvette. I was thinking and never heard of a Dana 36 with 3.07. So heres my question, when I go to this guys house and check out the rear, is there a casting Identification number on the pumpkin or anywhere on the axle? I feel like he mistaken this 36 for a 44. I cant tell the two apart other than the Dana is a 10-bolt. What else should I look for? Thanks guys

At what point of cubic inches (I'm assuming) whould a 58mm Throttle body be used?

Thansk everybody

The ratio should be stamped on the bottom of the pumpkin, if the cover is off the tooth count should also be stamped on the ring gear. See below to ID Nothing rare or unusual about a D36 with 3.07 ratio.

D36 with the optional Performance Ratio vs the standard gear set. No big deal. Toptech's pic shows how to tell the D36 from a D44.

58mm: I'm over 500hp with a 383...on a stock 48mm tb. GM used the stock 48mm tb on their crate 502s. Best way to determine when a larger tb is needed is to log the MAP sensor readings at WOT. When you start to see a restriction, it's time for a larger tb.

I used a 58mm on my 383 and now on my 406. No real downside except for gaining a few horses.
