Default Question

I have a 93 vert. I think my battery is going bad. i know this bacause the battery will not start the car after a coulpe days in the garage. I will jump the car with a battery charger and while i'm driving my Bose stereo powers on and off while driving. Is the battery bad making the relay denergize or is there something that is not obvious draining my battery?

Thanks

You might want to test your alternator. If it goes bad then it can drain a battery and cause problems that you describe. When you are running the car what is the voltage showing?

Pending a good alternator, I would do a parasitic draw test on your car. If it is running down in only days you have a really bad battery or a draw. Do a search here or on the web, it has been covered many times.

FYI, do not use the alternator to charge a low/dead battery, it is not designed for that. Only to power the car when running and to recharge the lost power for starting the car (from a charged battery). Doing so creates high load on the alternator and can cause premature death to it.

That being said, if your Bose stereo is turning on and off while driving, suspect that is the issue. Time for a parasitic draw test.

Do a search, if not here try Youtube. Pretty simple but you need to let the car sit for about 1 hour after hooking up the multi-meter in AMP range to get a proper reading. The modules have to go asleep. If you have not already get a Field Service Manual for your 93.

It's easy to change the battery. I would do this first and most likely your problems will be solved.
