What is the right cam 4 me?
I have a 1989 corvette and I need cam advice. I autocross mostly but it is my daily driver. I have done nothing to the engine except the usual ram air, air foil, large tube runners port matched, custom exhaust 2.5" into a 3" single tube then into 2.5" split to Borla mufflers, 2600 stall, and Jet Stage II chip, and throttle body coolant bypass. Comp Cams says for my car I should get a cam with 218/219 duration at .050 and a 488/495 lift with a 112 lobe separation. Should I go bigger or smaller or stay the same. What should I do?

I see you are an automatic, & you Auto X... I strongly suggest a GOOD transmission cooler !!

I would consider our ZZ-9 cam, great for your RPM range, and a good "driver" cam. 212/226 .483/520 on a 112lsa.

Hey TPiS, what big of a difference is there between the zz9 and the zz4 camshaft which runs at 208/221 duration, at .474/.510 lift at .50 with a 112 lsa ? Not much at all in IMO, to signify such a heavy price on the zz9

dont look for a good answer on the zz9 question, there isnt a good reason it cost so much more.
