Default digital dash question 84-89

My digi has a problem. When its on, it looks like everything is lit up. I can't read the speedo, and everything else is begining to look the same way. Fixable, or time for a new one?

Fixable but getting the parts is hard. I am not sure if anyone is actually making replacement parts. I am told that places that fix them have a supply of used LCD screens.

See if it is a case of worn connections first. Sometimes that is the problem. If it is the speedo or tach that can't be seen then it is quite possible that they are done. You will need to find a source or remove your dash to have sent away for rebuilding or used as a core.

My 2 cents.

Contact fellow Texan and forum member Scarabexe, 512-948-5900, Gary.
Had him do a rebuild for me last year and the dash looks brand freekin new.
Couldn't be happier. Just my experience your actual milage may vary.

Thanks for the tips! I forgot to mention that it even looks like the speedometer is lit up when the key is off. Gotta be something in the lcd pane right?

Gary's forum name is Scarabex I think, no "e" on the end. He uses the same name on the auction site.

If it looks anything like this, it's a bad LCD screen.

You can buy a new one for $100. Email Jim Adams at witchcityeng@yahoo.com, he can sell you one. If you decide to go this route and fix it yourself, you can pm me if you need help. I've had my display apart many times and took many pictures when I fixed that same problem.
