I have a 93 corvette, can i use the r134 kit you find in the stores on the car. Not looking for super cold, just some cold air.

You "can" but why not have it done right? Find a shop that has a good A/C technician and have them do the proper conversion. If your system still has R-12 in it, it's not a good idea to just release it into the air. R-12 can be recovered by the shop and it will be recycled and re-used.

charge it with freeze 12 or one of the other R12 retrofit gases now available. using 134 w/o changing the condensing coil is a waste of money it was not engineered to work in the r12 style coil.

The down side to a 134 change over is a rise in vent temps/loss of cold air while in slow traffic or at stop lights do to inadequate/low air flow over the condenser. 134 does not cool as well as 12 at low compressor speeds.

A few more rpm while at idle will move more gas through the system & provide colder vent temps.

Suggest connecting both cooling fan relay ground wires together to improve low vehicle speed air flow across the condenser.

Your good to go.

Change over's on vehicles with engine driven fans require a fan blade with more pitch or more blades or both more pitch & blades. Some also require a pusher electric fan mounted on the condenser.

I disagree. I've done hundreds of R12 to R134 conversions and never had a complaint. Change the drier and the o-tube. Flush the system and evacuate it before you charge it and it will work fine. Its actually pretty rear that I see an unconverted older car here in Sacramento.

Ive only done 4 conversions. All worked great with minimal effort. I did my C4 65000 miles ago. Still blowing cold.
