1986 Tires

Melting Slicks
I have found the guys at Tire Rack very helpful. I would not have a set of Good Years for any of my cars or trucks. I drive a lot of miles every year and I have not had a Good Year tire that did not get noisy in the past 20+ years. They have a soft rubber outter compound once you wear through it the inner rubber compound is hard and noisy, that is how they get their mileage out of their tires. I wouldn't run them if they were given to me.

I'm experiencing the same problem looking for tires for my '85. I was all set to buy the BFG G Force Sport through Sears until I tried to today.....unavailable. I got the same song and dance everywhere I tried. I think the GFG drag radials can be had in 255/50 16, but that really doesn't fit my needs. The only tire I found available is the Mirada Sport GTX. It is "V" rated, but I can't find much in the way of real feedback; just ad copy. A local dealer says he can have me a set in a couple of days. Probably what I'll go with. If I had the coin, I'd upgrade to some 17" ZR1 wheels, but.........
