Default My engine project

Just wanted to get a thread going on my engine swap.
What I have is a roller engine build by PeteK.

I'll post pics as I make progress.

Engine: 388 Roller with Petes chosen Cam
Intake- Holley Stealth Ram- its out getting powder coated now
Patriot Freedom series Heads- 190cc /64cc
RR's- Comps 1.6 Ultra Pro Mags
Headers and Exhaust: Hedmen Elites with LT1 2.75 inch Stainless dual exhaust, Boral ZR-1 ss mufflers
Drivetrain: Petes 2500 stall with D44 and 3:45 gears
All driven with dynamicefi's ECM

As the car sits everything has been removed except for the actual short block. I'm waiting on the new motor mounts before i actually remove it.

Fitting on the heads now to the new block and am doing some porting on it.

As I go through this I'm sure I'll have questions and will be posting a lot more pics.

I've been running the HSR for just under a year already. I don't have any hood clearance issues since I also have a hood scoop as well.

Just about done with the porting, I'll post some pics shortly!

engine compartment

Intake of the heads are ported

My machinest told me if I knocked off these ridges on the intake valve if would give me some ponies. I won't do that but I'm gonna take them back and have him do it.

Just playing to see what the headers look like

Loosened up the 3 bolts for the flex plate

In order to get the flex plate to stay in one play while I loosend the bolts I came up with this redneck idea

I count seven bolts holding the bellhousing, so those will be the next to get done.
First I need to get some support in for the tranny to hold it up.

Engine crane isn't going to work, its not long enough. I got it months ago for this project. I assumed it would be fine. I've extended the bar out as far as it will go which is at the lowest setting of 1/4 ton. I don't really car for that setting either.
It doesn't set center over the engine and also hits the tire.
I may try removing the tire and brakes to see if I can get it in further. Otherwise I'll have to find a crane.

Good luck! I'll be following your engine pull progress. I'll be pulling mine in a couple weeks. Pete K engine builds are always entertaining.

TPI421Vette is building my motor. It's great to have guys like Pete and Jim around to get us through these projects.

Keep the propgress coming, good move on having the machinist blend the cahmber to valve seat in. It all helps some.

Thanks. I had asked him if it was something I could do with on a little bit of experience. He had suggested that I not since it was a bit hairly near that lip. As you can see from my porting above I'm not the best but can get by. They have to go back to him this week anyways since the guides are still not complete. Evedently they are a odd size according to him. He had ordered .502 but they are actually .505, (I hope I'm giving out the correct measurement.)
Since they're going back I want him just to clean my stuff up a bit.

SWEET!! According to the video I did it took me 21 min's! I'm trying to upload it now. Hopefully it works
Once i removed the motor mount bolts I slowly raised the tranny then the crane...tranny then crane. Once I was high enough I pulled on the chains a bit and it was loose!
