Default 3.73 Gears - Wow

Sorry to start a new thread on an old topic.

I put in 3.73 gears running a 383 and a zf6.

Wow - what a difference.

The car feels scary fast. ( probably isn't really) but sure feels fun

6 gear is actually usable and the car jumps out of the hole.

With the old gears I'd many times bog down on take off at the track and then cross the finish line at only 5300 rpms with a terrible 2.00 60 foot time, running the quarter in 13.00 at 107mph

I'm hoping I can consistently get a 1.8 60 foot time and be in the twelves this year. - but might not have a track to go to with the closing of Gateway in St. Louis

Anyway the new gears feel great.

Well not for a lack of trying to pull this off in a timely manner but yet again the project has stalled and is sitting idle. Ronnie has told me they are still making progress but there is still no done deal. I have closed the store and donations area, it is not fair to continue to sell merchandise until something concrete is pulled together. I refunded the last sale made and there were only 2 so please don't think someone was getting rich off this. I have a lot going on right now and will not have time for emails and questions that should be directed to Ronnie and I am sure he will get to it in a timely manner."

It would really suck for the MarPark guys if the Gateway 1/4 track somehow opened back up

Right now there are legal issues between MAR and an opposition group of Eolia residents.

From what I've heard Gateway is on leased land, it will be very difficult to sell or even give away with $5.5m in back taxes owed.

I had 3.33 gears. Which was sort of an odd ratio added late in the 1989 model year( I believe)

So like a 14% change going to 3.73

Going to need some good tires.
My auto 383 w/3.73's kicks the rear sideways on the 1 -2 shift @ WOT with street tires.
1.6X at the track with MT ET streets

When my car was on the street, I had 3.73 gears, a 383 with an auto also. Great combination!

Actually, the 3.33:1 ratio was made standard equipment on ZF6 equipped cars relatively early in 1989 production. Before this change, the early 1989 ZF6 equipped cars had 3.54:1 ratio gears.

So what's the engine RPM when doing 65 mph with the new gears?

My '89 has the 3.33:1 ratio gears... maybe time to consider a change?

2100RPM @ 100Km/h in O/d w/ 3.73's

You have so much fun with 3.73's ( if your engine can rev enough ) then you won't be worried about economy

Was that 13.00@107 before or after the 383?

My basically stock LT1 runs in around 109 at the end of 1/4 mile with crappier 2.20ish 60 foot times.

Curious: What is your Elapsed Time with a 2.20 60 foot and 109 in the traps?
