I want those 60 foot times the guy in the 05 Mustang GT had on the 3 and 4th runs. Dang on street tires no less. Lots of clutch slippage. So he said.
FYI, I can't drive and I'm working on that one...
Only mods Muffler Eliminators, X-Pipe, Open Air Lid w/K&N Filter. ALL else is stock, as far as I know. I have found no modifications my previous owners. I know these cars and I did have the intake off, no hidden ported anything.

Actually, the 3.33:1 ratio was made standard equipment on ZF6 equipped cars relatively early in 1989 production. Before this change, the early 1989 ZF6 equipped cars had 3.54:1 ratio gears.
So what's the engine RPM when doing 65 mph with the new gears?
My '89 has the 3.33:1 ratio gears... maybe time to consider a change?

I have 3.73 gears in my '92 with the 700r4 and my LS3 Hot Cam. You will love your 3.73s. With well over 500 hp I love the combination. What you loose in mileage you more than make up with fun!!

After making 2 rear end gear changes, 2.59 to 3.07, and then 3.07 to 3.75 I know now I should have taken the full step to the 3.75 instead of wasting the time and money stopping short at the 3.07. IMHO, the 3.75 is just about right for those who want a big improvement in performance and still have a streetable car. If you want an all out racer, go right on up to the 4.11 or 4.30, but staying at 3.75 will save $$ on gas and wear and tear on the rev's. I get 70 mph at 2800rpm's with my 89 and a 700R4 auto trans, and great launches! My mileage on the highway runs about 18 to 19 mpg.
Your 60 ft time could really use the 3.75 if you have tires that will stick. You should be running about 2.0 now instead of the 2.4 area, unless you are lighting up the tires, and the 3.75 should move you into the 1.8 area.
A Richmond ring and pinion is available for your Dana 36, with a 3.75 ratio. You will have to use your 2.59 carrier in order to run the 3.75 gear. (something I learned the hard way, as I bought an entire 3.07 carrier and sold my 2.59, only to have to go and buy anonther 2.59 case to fit the 3.75 gears.
My advise would be to go all the way to the 3.75 instead of stopping short at the 3.07.

1600-1650 RPM at 65 mph (or around 100 km/h for us Canucks) isn't too bad. I'm concerned about both mileage and wear. Right now, with the stock 3.33:1 gears, the engine spins around 1300 RPM @ 65 RPM. It's nice and low, so the highway mileage is decent but there's not much "get-up and go" unless I drop down a gear or two.
So do most people replace the original gear set, or is it just easier/better to replace the entire rear differential carrier (ie. the "pumpkin") which has already had the new gears installed?

from my knowledge is way easier to replace the whole pumpin but its not cheap thou
its cheaper to replace the gear set but you have to deal with alingment and its better that a pro-shop do it , if im doing the 3.07 to 3.73 jump, i would be replacing the pumpkin ...but another problem comes to mind ...if im swapping rears ...i'd go to a D44 all the way !

at 65 mph the car turns 1650 rpms which I think one of the other guys already said that's where it would fall.
