Default Serpentine Belt - Which Way? '93-LT1

Which way do the teeth go?

Do the teeth go into the:

Crank, Alternator, Air Compressor

or

Tensioner, Power Steering, Idler Pully?

Ethier way you do this something is going to be chewing on the flat side of the belt.

Thanks,

Larry...

My '92 has teeth on both sides of the belt. Your '93 probably needs the two-sided belt.

Yep start at the teeth on the crank, then work your way as according to the diagram. Some pulleys will contact the flat side. I don't know about the dual sided belt that mashinter is talking about above since I have a 94.

There was a change to a single-sided ribbed belt in 1993. But it wasn't done at the start of the '93 model year. Some early '93's used the double-sided ribbed belt. There were not very many '93's that used the double sided belt. And pulleys can be changed so that a single-side rib belt can be used.

There is a belt routing diagram under the hood and I think it's on the upper radiator shroud. By starting with the ribs facing on the inside of the belt loop, place the ribs on the crank pulley and follow the diagram.
