1986 Corvette Gauge Problems!!!!HELP!!!
Just bought a 86 vette, pretty much the only thing wrong with it is the digital gauge that's in it, the speedometer works and the whole gauge cluster lights up but nothing else works just the speed works, The information cluster in the middle works fine and lights up but when switching the buttons on it, it does't do anything on the gauge cluster only thing i can change is the speed to km. WHERE DO I NEED TO START, AND WHAT DO I NEED TO DO! PLEASE HELP, THANKS

Like you asked, ya gotta start somewhere.
This will also help you master the removal install process.
I checked and the DIY Batee site is no longer listed for the manual.
There's bound to be one around.

Try this
My gage cluster had issues when I first bought my '89 coupe. Many of my switches were not functioning so I bought a can of air spray and shot some into my switches and worked them back and forth and that worked for some of them. Try that first. That was especially true of the switches associated with the outside mirrors.
Next step if that does not work is to pull the cluster and lightly sandpaper the contacts and maybe put in new bulbs while you are at it. It will only cost you some time and very little money.(a few bucks for the can of air.)

yeah with air and new bulbs..then i used sand paper on the connector prongs and still nothing, now when my light are on i can see a lil of the tach meter bars more but u have you to look right at it to notice it, so i might just buy a new one or switch and go to regular gauges, would love to keep it all digital...

Remember that for a circuit to work, the ground side has to be good, too. The FSM will show you where to look for ground wires, studs, etc. GM ground wiring is usually black.
