Default Question about driving habbits

Ok so this may sound like a dumb question but I need to ask how the majority of C4 owners drive their cars. I ask this because I find it very hard to drive my car normally. Im not reckless in anyway but I cant seem to help pushing the pedal at times and Im kind of worried about getting a ticket. This makes absolutely no sense when you think about it but maybe its because I just got the car running and its my first week of driving the car. I am hoping that as time goes on Ill tend to drive a little more reserved but lately I cant help but push it a little at times on the highway etc. Is this normal for most or do I have a problem lol and Im serious with respect to this question

Put a heavier spring on the gas linkage..

And in your case, I would make it as stiff as possible.

Are you talking stop light sprints or all out attempts at breaking the land speed record? Accelerating up to the speed limit as quick as possible is fairly normal and the urge will decrease in time, especially after you get tired of filling it up all the time and buying new rubber for it.

I agree. Consider autocrosses and organized drag races too.

This. Although I do find myself attacking curves a lot more than straight line speed to start with. Learning the cars abilities in a controlled environment will greatly improve one's chances at preventing a crash in an uncontrolled environment.

I don't usually speed on the street personally. Yes, I get to the speed as quickly as traction allows. But I like the curves and corners better. Why take a car built to turn and try to go fast in a straight line? Makes no sense to me.

EDIT: I've owned the car for 3 weeks, put on 600 miles and attended to auto-x events.

Unplug spark plug wires 1 and 6. That'll take care of your problem.

Keep you Acceleration Slip Regulator (ASR) button in the default position. That'll keep you from churning up the rear meats so fast.

Go to an area where traffic is dead. Or, try a local track for a couple of 1/4m runs. Nail it until your heart's delight.

Then, when you're finally finished and pissed because it won't do more, go build a bigger/badder motor and start all over.

Or,,,drive within 5mph over and concentrate on something else. Get a nice stereo installed.

I drive my 91 sort of briskly quick to speed try not to turn the tires though occassional chirp in second makes it feel a little more sport for a 91 A4 do attack interstate on ramps a bit but never more than 5 over they are pretty serious here about speeding. I am not sure I have the talent for a road course unless they have a class that is road racing 101. I am real good at chassis set up have done that on several GT cars for clients mostly vintage cars. Best to date is a 96 Olds Aurora IMSA GT with a 406 chevy under 1:47 on the daytona road course and 205 coming off the banking on the front straight.. Just don't ask me to sit in it LOL.
I sure wish they had some local to me autoX stuff that looks like fun and addictive as well.

Go play at an AutoX, cheap and won't put a lot of wear on the car. Very fun and helps alleviate some of that.

Just wait until you have a modified motor... I can't even press the gas pedal to full throttle before I am speeding!

Go to the track, any type of racing really and youll find yourself driving normal speeds on the road. Strange but it works...no cops no tickets no loss of drivers license and its legal. Doesnt get better than that!

Rack up some points on your license or worse yet lose it, get the car impounded and thrashed in the impound yard etc youll think twice. Btdt.

That's debatable. Tires, brakes, oil changes and admission all add up. I do agree that's it's one of the better routes, as it keeps you out of trouble on the public road.

Isn't CT like 50 miles across? lol I'm used to driving 120miles for an auto-x weekend at the drop of a hat. Tose weekends when it's 30 miles round trip are absolutely amazing.

Hey I am from that area (Stonington), live a little closer to Hartford now. CT definitely needs a track somewhere because your right about the cops, they are everywhere. Need some place to go and legally let it loose a little.

Tires especially, but burning those up on public asphalt costs as much or more, as you note, than in a place where you can't get ticketed.

Tires, brakes and oil changes are pretty cheap to beat the crap out of your car and it usually is only 30 bucks or so to enter.

HPDEs can be 10x that +.
