My car shakes....
1987
Just trying to figure out what is wrong. My brakes work pretty well most of the time but when I am doing 70mph and I put on the brakes hard the car shakes like it is about to fall apart.
I figure I need to replace the brake lines because they are 23 years old. But do I need to replace the rotors also?

vibration sounds like rotor issues. Check for other loose componets before you pull the rotors. U joints, steering rack, ball joints etc. Could be you need new lines if yours are having issues and causing the brakes to drag/warp the rotors.
Pull the rotors and mic them to see if they can be turned down safely. 12" rotors are pretty inexpensive so it won't be as bad as you think if you have to replace them.

as a general rule brake lines usaly will not cause a shaking. Sounds like you need to turn the rotors or replace them, And yes this would be a good time to replace the brake hoses, rebuild or get rebuilt calipers and pads.

It's the rotors. Brake lines don't make a car shake when braking. You may need to replace the brake shoes if this has been going on for a while. It would also be a good time to replace fluid and pressure bleed the system.
