I have an ostrich, connected into the chip socket, of my 93's ECM.
Whoever invented this thing should get the noble prize (no need to burn chips everytime you make a minor tweak).
Anyways, is it reliable to just leave it on there?
Or should I be burning a chip with my final tune?
Id hate for the ostrich to fail due to heat/vibration, etc.
Or are those things pretty durable?

i dont have 1, i wish i did. but i asked Moates the same question a while back and he said once you find your tune you want to burn it to a chip. i think he said it was best to have the ecm sealed from moisture.

I have had mine permanently in the car for years but it is mounted inside with the '165 ECM.
Possibly you could get a longer ribbon cable to do the same so it is out of the elements?
Or if you have a burner it is no biggy ( if you have the ZIF adapter in the ECM ) to burn your latest tune and install it for peace of mind until you want to tweak some more

I run this in my 89 Vette. Mine is mounted under the dash on the passengers side. Been running it permanently for years with zero problems. Craig Moates is the man!
