The cheapest one you can find from a local muffler shop. Ask for higher flowing cats/mufflers. Avoid the name-brand expensive stuff and keep your wallet full. Don't get caught up in the hype.

Ask around in your area to find a good shop. They'll be able to pick the right parts based on your desired (sound) outcome.

As long as you use higher flowing cats/mufflers, the end result will be about as good as you can get with any exhaust-only upgrade.

(Beyond that, there's a search function. Plus, your question was lame considering that lack of detail!)

if interior resonance is a problem for you, make sure you ask before purchase. I won't mention any brand names here, but some will take your eardrums out.

Hi. I have an 85 too.
What exhaust? It depends of the funds, but I took the bull by the horn and bought TPIS headers and a very freeflowing Swedish brand Ferritta stainless exhaust. This made a lot of more power as the exhaust manifold and stock exhaust is crap on these cars. A friend has the headers too but Corsa exhaust which is also great. Then you should buy the 1986 version of corsa and Y tube as the fittings towards the cat is different. There are some cats that claim hgh flow but is not that high. I have a race cat with metal instead of ceramics and flows an ocean and works great

I used borla stainless steel and did it right the first time. I have not had to worry about it for years and it still looks great.

don't spend a ton of $ unless you free up the intake charge......these cars are choked at the intake before they ever get to the exhaust, so get something cheap if you are not upgrading the incoming air charge first!:

im not gonna have a cat. i decided to weld up my own and depending how cheap i can find a pair of corsa mufflers ill get that if not maybe just a flowmaster.

my current system is rusting off (this is a restore project) so i figure fix this up near the start so i can actually get it tuned.

so far we put in a new fuel filter, pumped 2 gallons of water out of the gas tank, new fuel pump, new dist, new spark plug wires, new vac lines, and im about to go to autozone and get a shim kit for the starter.

thanks for everyones input, i am taking pictures along the way so eventually ill have a thread with pics

If you're looking for a B&B system, I'll sell you mine for a cheap price. I just changed to Corsa so I'm selling my old system (which came off an 85 so it will fit yours perfectly).
