Hi everyone, I just got my 84 a couple months ago. Its a bit of a fixer upper, but its super fun to drive. I think it used to be a red with saddle interior. Now its orange with part saddle part black and part yellow. It has an after market body kit on it, but it still has the original crossfire.

Just landed my '84 last week. It belonged to my dad. He had 2 others previously that he bought new, back in the day - a black/white '61 convertible and a red '65 convertible. He had both until I was 3 or 4, and then (regrettably) sold them. Fast forward 25 or so years to the early 2000's and he bought this used '84.
In 2005 he was diagnosed with a brain tumor. As things progressed, he asked me to take it, but logistics of getting it halfway across the country, where to store it, etc all made it impractical at the time. He passed away in 2006, and my uncle bought it with the understanding that I had first dibs should he ever decide to part with it. I always regretted not taking it the first time around.
Fast forward again to about a month ago. I started looking around for a 3rd car for my son, daughter, (7-year old twins), wife and I to share. I came close on a 911 but it was just too much money. Unbeknownst to me, my mom contacted my uncle, and she bought it back from him for the same exact price he paid for it, which was nice. She in turn gave it to me, all I had to do was arrange for shipping. So now I'm the proud owner of an '84, I have a piece of my dad back, and I have something which will make plenty of memories with my family.
It's in pretty good shape overall - 61k miles. I replaced the fuel pump last week (bad sending unit) and am replacing the alternator next week. Have a few other things in mind, but nothing urgent.

Mecum Auction Buy
I went to the Mecum Auction in Kissimmee, Fl and purchased a buyers pass so I could get up close and personal with the show. In the back of my mind I thought I might buy a Corvette, but had no intent prior to getting there. Then this sweet 1984 'magazine car' came up to the preview line and I knew I had to have it. Slightly over 20,000 miles, 3 owner with all the maintenance records. Only 1800 miles in the last 10 years, and that mostly to shows. Reserve came off at $9,000 and I got it for $13,000.
After a thorough checkout by Corvette Masters of Orlando, Fl, I decided to make the car a base for a resto-mod, updating a lot of things as I went. Over the last 8 months, I've repainted the car with anniversary stripes, replaced the carpeting with insulation, installed resonance reduction mufflers from Corvette Central, updated the rims to Verde Regency 17" with Falcon tires, installed a LeMans lighting kit from Breathless Performance (and then modded that to install an HID projector where the high beam lights were), installed an analog dash package from VettAid, and this week ordered an LS-1 engine and new transmission from Turnkey Engine Supply in Oceanside which should go in early next month.
Most of my pictures are in the garage, but here are some showing the chronology:
At auction:
America's Sports Car listing as the 1984 model. The previous owner was contacted by the author to use his car in the book:
Some of the awards the previous owner received showing the car in South Florida:
LeMans lighting kit as modified with HID projectors:
Repaint with anniversary stripes (www.vettestripes.com) and new Verde rims:
When I'm done, I'll have a few items to sell including the Crossfire V8 which does run ok (burbles a bit at idle) after quite a bit of tuning and the original 16" rims with Falcon tires (about 800 miles on the 16" Falcons which replaced the Goodyear Eagles that were going on 13 years old). PM me if interested before I do a general listing.

Here's a picture of my modified analog dash from VetteAid using the above instructions:

It was also featured as the 1984 model in "America's Sports Car" by the previous owner.
