Default Spacers for Grand Sport wheels on 1986

Hello,

I just got a set of the ZR-1 style wheels that came on the Grand Sport and later C4's, 17 X 9.5 all around.

I was curious if these required the same spacers that the "Sawblade" wheels do for a 1986 Corvette, and what size they need to be for the front and back.

Thanks in advance!

If the wheels are all 17x9.5, they will have a 56mm offset just like the 88 and later OEM wheels. The 84-87 cars used a wheel with a 38mm offset. So you will need a 3/4" adapter. The wheels will bolt on and clear the calipers and they won't rub, but because the wheels will sit that 3/4" further inside the wheelwells, you will notice it.

Now, there are some aftermarket ZR-1 style wheels that were made with a specific 38mm offset just for the 84-87 cars so that no adapters would be needed.

Thanks a lot for the info c4, that's exactly what I was looking for. These are the actual factory wheels from a later car, and have the bigger offset.

A friend of mine did not think I needed the spacers, so I put the wheels on.......and they most certainly do lol It looked between .5 - 1", but I wasn't sure. Also looks like the rears need a thicker spacer than the front....but that's just from eyeballing it, so I wanted to make sure before I bought any.

Thanks again!!

1 inch adaptors will do the trick and seem to be cheaper than 3/4 ones.

Thanks for the heads up.

Will these work? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Wheel...Q5fAccessories

I thought it would be a 5X5 - 5X5 adapter?

I like hub centric better. It is the way Porsche used to make them on their earlier cars. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Wheel...Q5fAccessories
