LT4 Hotcam, could get you plenty of power if tuned right with correct heads

"BEST" means different things to different people. If you consider best to mean a good deal of power while maintaining good street manners with a healthy idle at a decent price, you can't go wrong with the Hot Cam. There are plenty of other options, but I'm a big fan of the Hot Cam.
Look in the sig for some sound clips and such. I'm making 336 horsepower with stock heads, LcVette is making 370 or more with a set of home ported heads.
All around it's a pretty good bang for the buck cam.

For emissions required cars I like the CC305, it packs a nice punch. For non-emissions cars I would go with the CC306 in a heartbeat, that's a roudy cam that makes some mean power!!

Re: Best cam for LT1??? (Zix)
In an otherwise stock car the CC306 is probably a lot of overkill. My friend's 396 lopes VERY hard with the CC306, I don't see how a 350 could even run with it. With stock heads and manifolds, etc It's probably too much cam for the motor and can actually be counter productive. There is also no way you would pass it off as a sleeper.

Unless your using big gears and have head work the CC306 is way overkill, for a stock head car the ZZ9 or hotcam would work well, I am stepping up from the hotcam and going with a Comp Extreme Energy cam ( 224/230 duration@.050.....536/.544 lift 1.6rocker....112 LSA). You have to decide what you want to do with the car and how important everyday drivability will be as well if you want to pass emmisions or not.

MVR, I too am considering going to the 224-230, from a hot cam. The hot cam is a nice conservative cam that is capable of making some good usable street power, but I need a little more. How much power do you think is capable from the extreme cam? I have seen 370+ at the rear but that car wasn't fully optimized for the cam. I am ordering this Monday, should have it installed in a week or two after that.

370 at the wheels is obtainable with the hot cam, on home ported heads with headers. That would lead me to believe that a more aggressive cam could easily make more than that.

Depends on what you have for a tranny, gears, converter if an A4...among others. You can't just go buy a big stick and expect big results....don't work like that.

For a stock motor a HOT CAM kit is fine.
Did I just say that???????????

MVR, I am going with the 987 springs. You should look into them. They have a little heavier damper. Ask your builder and check the specs out in the catalog.
