12.80-12.90-Maybe!
I'm thinkin 3:45's would be a better choice unless you have some mods that will allow you to pull alot more rpms then stock, I'm thinking 3:73's might find you a little short winded at the end of the quarter if motor, cam and rotating assembly are basically stock. 3:73's might make you short times go away, blowing off the tires at launch unless you go with a real sticky tire. You're gonna be on the north side of 5K alot with 3:73's.
I know some of the LT-4 guys aren't that crazy about taller gears due to limited rpms the motors pull=6K and below unless worked, LT-1's even less rpm capable if stock. It's a judgement call but I think mid 3's in rear gearing would be more then sufficient to get you where you want to be.
Have you thought about just installing a looser converter, gotta be worth a few tenths there?.....

Safety Car
I've had a couple TPI cars with 3.73's and neither made for a good combination, TPI is about torque and 3.73's push TPI out of it's torque band too fast. I'm not sure how they would be in a automatic but in a stick they sucked. These were camaros with the 305/M5

If that was on street tires go get some drag radials and you are there.
A stall converter may get you there provided you can hook it.
If the motor has stock heads/cam I would probably go 3.45 max.It will get you into your torque and HP band quicker.
Having a better idea of your mods and driving habits would help make the decision.

First, this thread is 12 years old. You will be better off starting a new thread. Also fill out your profile so everyone knows what you are driving. 6 speed or A4 it makes a difference. If you have a 6 speed you will be really happy with 4:10 not 3:73. On the highway you still have low rpm with a 6 speed.

I'm on the fence with 3:73 or 4:10. I have a t56 in an 87 now with the stock 3:07. It's dog slow. Opinions are back and forth on this to the point of insanity. I wish I could drive a 4:10 6 spped and see how it is...
