You just need to pull the bumpercover off. There is a lot involved actally you need to find and remove all the attaching bolts for the cover and remove the inside bracketry that some underhood components are attached to eg horns, emissions stuff vacuum stuff overflow bottle light connectors im sure im missing stuff. If you do eventually get it off its real tuff to put on. It sort of snaps on before you screw it on and since the paint is more than 24 hours old youll need to be extra carefull not to crack it. Have fun with that one. Maybe someone knows a trick to get at em without a removal. I dont. :smash:

I had mine off to replace the lens assemblies with the export ones. It took about 2 hours to remove. I don't remember it being a real bad job. I highly recommend you get a friend or loved one to help especially on the installation. Also, make sure everything aligns before you start tightening fasteners. I started from the center and worked my out to the edges. Good luck and let us know how it went. :chevy

I am believe that it should be the same proccedure for a 85 as it is for all 84-90's right. If so, it's not TO bad. It takes some time but is pretty much straight forward. Good luck!

I'm in agreement with everyone here.
Not to hard to take off. Just take time...

You can get the lens from any corvette parts store. They aren't cheep though. I think mine was $100. I am trying to get my scanner to work to download the scematic of the bumper and the instruction on how to remove it out of my shop manual. But I am having a hard time getting it to work. I will try a little longer.

Here's the directions for the bumper removal.
1. Raise hood to gain working clearance.
2. Disconnect battery ground cable.
3. Disconnect bulbs from parking lamps and side marker lamp.
4. Remove wheelhouse seal from upper edge of fascia and remove 4 screws on each side.
5. Remove 12 screws attaching top of fascia to impact bar reinforcement.
6. Remove 4 screws attaching rear verticle edge to splash shield (each side) and 2 upper inner screws attaching fascia to support.
7. Raise vehicle, remove four screws each side attaching fascia to outer air dams
8. Remove 4 screws attaching fascia to lower edge of impact bar
9. Remove screws attaching fascia to skid plates
10. Lower vehicle - remove fascia from vehicle by lifting upper edge of fascia away from reinforcement and at the same time rotating fascia downward.

On my 91 Vette, there is a very Tiny bolt that secures the Fog Lamp assembly. I used an Ignition wrench set that had a bunch of teeny tiny wrenches and found one that fit.
You'll see the tiny bolt when the bumper is removed.

When you remove the front bumper cover, it essentially lifts up at the top over the steel reinforcement bar while pulling the rest of the fascia downward. It installs in the same manner, too. Just be careful to get the top lip of the bumper cover over the reinforcement bar to maintain the proper gap between the hood and front bumper. (You can install the bumper incorrectly and end up with a 3/8" to 1/2" gap.)
When re-attaching the driver's side spoiler, I've found it easier if you first remove the plastic vacuum air tank's two bolts through the inner splash panel to move the tank out of the way for access to the retaining nuts. Also, when replacing the fog lamp/blinker assembly itself, the FSM doesn't mention that you must first remove the screw-on, plastic extension for the fog light before you can insert the inside spring clip into position. (The extension is an easy attachment after the lens is in place.)
Other than those tips, it's a piece of cake albeit easier with power tools to remove all the dang bolts and screws. Good Luck!

I was going to add this since no one else did but you beat me to it. One other thing, I 've done this by myself, you have to be careful but it is do-able. Also the screws between the fascia and the hoos are either 7 or 10 mm.
