Tech Tip #1 is backwards. '85 to '88 Corvettes are MAF. In '89 they changed to MAP.

The MAF relays are different in '86. Also there was an upgrade and the burnoff relay changed part numbers.

I'm not sure when, but somewhere in the late '80s they went to a completely different style relay and connector.

My 89 is MAF, they changed to Speed Density or "MAP" in 90...WW

I might be having the same problem. I plan to order the two relays, but in the meantime are there any tests I can run to see if the MAF itself is bad?

I just went through this with my '88 last week. Changed both of the relays (yes, they are the same part# on an '88), but the problem persisted. Finally got a rebuilt MAF sensor (Cardone) and problem was resolved.
