Default Heat, & A.C. stuck on defrost

Hello, This is the first corvette I have owned. It is A 1991 model.Three days after I bought it, the head gasket blew. I had A back yard mechanic replace them, but when he put it back together he could'nt find where A vacume line went. I noticed he blocked off the vacume from the engine with a screw. The heat, and air are now stuck on defrost. I beleve this vacume line is the reson. does anyone know were it goes?
Thank you.

Yes, you're correct. There is a vacuum line tee that goes to the cruise control and under the dash to the vacuum controller. You will need to install the tee and re-connect the vacuum lines. The reason your vents are stuck on defrost is that this is the default position.
