Default Making the stock valve covers fit

My covers really didn't want to go on the SR. I decided to clearance them and if it got to bad, buy new. They turned out well. There's enough metal left for sealing and you can't see the ground areas at all. They just drop right on now, it's sooo easy!

I ran into the same problem except that I had R R's and the stock covers didn't fit, but I had the same problem with the SR and side clearance I tried several aftermarket covers and finally ended up buying some edelbbrock's the SR was a real PITA I'm still having some issues with it,I hope that when eery thing is said and done I'll be happy with it

I've got Summit 1.6 full rollers installed and these covers fit excellent now.

Thanks! Except for the odd lid bolt ..one got lost! Not in the engine! I'll get that replaced soon. I used all normal bolts in the runners to plenum. It was no problem to use a small socket on some and a ratcheting wrench on others.

Having never put a SR together before, I thought it was easy but time consuming. It took two hours.

That does look nice I have the same valve covers with the same notches ground out. I have comp cam rollers and all I had to do was break off the drip tips inside the covers to get them to fit.
How did you get the plug wires around the back of the manifold? I ended up running mine over the top.

I just picked up a used SR on eBay. I'm mocking it up on the bench. So far it looks like everything should fit with my applicatiion (85). I'm hoping the valve cover interference is only with center bolt covers. Yours looks great.

I fed them through that small gap between the wiper motor and plenum, one at a time. It was tedious. :o

I did get the timing light back and that's all done. It runs good! I'll try to get a video at the drags this weekend.

I was having a royal time trying to get the passenger cover back on this spring. I just couldn't get it high enough, while going under the EGR pipe. Twenty seconds on the underside with a grinder and it fit like a glove.
