Default Cloyes double roller 9-3145

Does onyone have an idea whats going on with this? I am haveing a problem with the bolts in the cam gear being to small. The cam gear fits sloppy. No way to center the cam gear on the cam. Is there something I am missing?

Just test fitted one now and it fits fine.
Does your cam gear have the recess in the back to fit the groove on the cam?
Once it is seated , there is no slack.
Possibly wrong gear in box ?

No issues with block clearance or cover clearance? Like Ultraviolet70 had with his Cloyes dbl roller 1145?

See this thread.

Because I had one on the shelf I just tried it on the cam outside of the engine to sort his problem out.
Sometimes parts get swapped at the parts shop and you don't end up with what you should have.

The cloyes was a PITA to fit. You will have to clearance a bunch of metal from the timing cover. I was able to get it to clear though. The cam retainer bolts are also very close. I just went through this a couple of months ago on my 95.

Thanks guy's! I got. I feel like a fool. I didn't think of the recess in back of it.
I also had to clearance the cover but it was behind the cam gear not the crank gear.
Now, on to other problems with the windage tray.

Do you have a different cover on your 95?

Rick, maybe your crank gear wasn't fully seated when you were doing the test fit, or you didn't have the timing cover gasket in place? I have never seen that much material taken out to clearance for the Cloyes double roller.

The gear was fully seated. I did testfit/clearance it without the gasket though. The gasket was so thin I didnt think it would make that much difference. Maybe it did. I also figured that if it fully cleared without the gasket then I should be safe with it installed. I was concerned about having metal shavings in there.
