glued mine with 3m weather strip adhesive, worked great, hasn't come unstuck again in two years, used the black one as it made the fix less visable than the original coloured adhesive.

Mine looked like new. Got tired of gluing and changed it.

I did mine 18 months ago and it looks perfect; you can't tell it's been done. I used rubber cement (looks like contact cement but made specifically for rubber), let it set up for about 15 mins before sticking it together, and let it sit for a few hours before closing the hatch. It's worked for me. As I recall, the biggest hassle was standing there for 15 mins while holding the two sides apart from each other while the rubber cement set up.

I am one of those mortgage folks that has not had a paycheck in a while. So now I am turning wrenches at a body shop. Use the 3M stuff. It works great and is not too pricey.
I glued mine when I bought the car 3 years ago. To date no problems. Why replace something if it is still good?
I would suggest replacing the weatherstrip if you notice water leaking in or is you hear a wind whistle from that area.
