Default Cylinder Head flow numbers!! And my new addition.

As you guys know. I am building a 421. It is about 80-90% complete.

I went with the AFR 195cc Eliminator Street ports since I allready purchased them, but after speaking to Tony@AFR, and my engine builder Jim "tpi421vette", we decided to up it to the AFR 196cc Eliminator Competition ports for the stroker.

I have owned 3 sets of cylinder heads. Two of which are AFR's, and the other has a set of 195cc Trickflow Kenny D's. The TFS heads were supposed to go on my 383, then I decided to sell those to get the AFR's for the 383. Then I somewhat got screwed by the engine builder, so that project went up in flames.

Anyways, I have had all 3 cylinder heads flowed. This will give everyone a very idea of the cfm flowing through the ports. I must say, I cannot believe the exhaust cfm #'s in regards to the AFR Comp Ports.

Almost everyone I have talked to that builds motors, or has a good running street combo will mention that power is in the heads, and port velocity is very important for that snappy responsive throttle which is one of my goals. Nothing like having power everywhere in the curve.

Below is the flow #'s for the 3 heads. You can decide for yourself what cylinder head will make more power, and if you are thinking of buying one of these cylinder heads, then this will give you a good idea what they flow. This also gives you can idea how amazing the new eliminators flow. If proof is in the pudding, my new motor should be very snappy.

Also a big thanks to Tony, and Jim!

I also have HUGE news. My wife gave birth to our first. Her name is Gwen, and she is healthy. Below are a few pictures of her, and her happy parents!! It's a really good reason to prolong the engine project, as I know have two beauty's in my life.

Also if you have nothing to say about this thread, and want to make a smartass comment, then you can private message me. I have noticed a few individuals are really getting off topic recently.

Hope you enjoyed!

Congrats on the rugrat!

Flow numbers look good, but I'll bet you'll find over the next several months that the only flow you'll be concerned with will be in a diaper...

Congratulations Rick on the new baby.

I also had my AFR 195 Competition heads flowed. My results are almost identical to yours. Here are my results to show your numbers are no fluke.

.200...158/124
.300...207/174
.400...256/212
.500...290/228
.550...302/xxx
.600...306/235

I think you are ahead of me time wise on the engine build. My short block is still at the machine shop.

OK before you get any bright ideas...you cannot trade the baby in for a different one. She will flow what she flows and you must live with it. There is no adjusting the combination. If she cries too much Tony@AFR CANNOT help you!!!

Congrats

Some decent numbers there. Use them. Run lots of lift and a good ported intake to hopefully not limit those heads

should be a fun build

It's not a race. I would rather have quality, then quantity. You know the old saying about the turtle......

Congrats to you and the Wife. Like was said...you're going to be real busy for a while. The new motor should be nice too... when you find the time to mess with it.
