Default heater blows strong-a/c doesnt -can anyone help

i bought this 84 back in the winter and the heat works fine--blows a little weak at full---however now its summer--when i change over to a/c it trickles out even on full blow--could it be a relay or maybe is just the blower failing--can anyone help?

What does your Factory Service manual flow chart say about it?

I would guess your heater door is stuck open or your A/C needs a charge. The door is one of the most expensive repairs you can have unless you do it yourself with a FSM. Now if Trickle means the fan does not blow that is another issue that the FSM can help with. By the book for $100 and save $100s

For the heck of it, you can remove the blower module and then look down into the blower housing(in engine compartment) and see what you can see with a telescoping mirror and flashlight.

I removed my HVAC system off the car(for racing).
When I took apart that blower/AC housing, the A/C coil had a thick layer of oily dust clogging it up.
Inhibitting some of the cold airflow. (the coil is not on the car in the pics, but normally it sits where the wire loom is in the lower left)

While in there, you can also check the status of the blend door.
You can see the heater core.

p.s.: Don't take the housing apart

Good advice - if froomzz had the C68 electronic AC/heater controls. But as his car is an 84, it has the 'old' manual controls - no blower module at all. From my limited knowledge of the manual controls, I might guess the blower relay? But a good manual would be the best to help out on the 84.

Good catch.
Now I'm curious what the early cars have in that location.

I'm no expert on the manual systems(non-c68) early C4's, - the answer is nothing. The manual blower 'relay' is in another location - on the firewall I think?
