Looking For Exploded View Of 86 Cigarette Lighter Or Similar
Took my shifter plate apart to paint it and I'm now trying to put things back, BUT, memory sucks and common sense says I'm missing a part.
Anyone have an exploded view or a shifter plate handy so you can describe what order and what parts are there.
Thanks

This is the only diagram I see that shows the breakdown of the cigar lighter. It's from a 89 Helms.
Make sure you disconnect the battery cable because the wire for the cigar lighter is hot at all times.

Thanks Hooked, but it doesn't show all the little parts. I tried finding an exploded view in my C4 parts fiche, but had no luck there either.
Hopefully someone has one handy that they can take apart.
If not, I'll make it work my way.

I am going to take my BOSE stereo out next week and send it off for tape deck repairs. Once I get the center DIC bezel off, it will be an easy matter to take the floor consol trim plate off and get the photos that you need; if you can wait that long. Let me know .

Put together a combo that shows no continuity between + and - and is tight in the shifter plate. All good, so I'm off to put my painted dash in.
Pics in a while.

No Bubba modifications needed.
As shown in the diagram from the Helms manual there are only three pieces to the cigar assembly.
Two pieces that screw together and the heating element itself.
There are no other pieces to the cigar lighter assembly, such as insulating washers.
These are the two pieces that screw together.
In this pic. the center pin is the Positive connection. If you were to use an ohm meter and measure resistance, from the center pin to the outer shell you would read infinity indicating the pin is isolated from the outer shell.
There is continuity from the center pin to two springy fingers on the side that make contact with the heating element when it's inserted.

Thanks Hooked, that looks just like I put it together. After the element is slipped into the socket, there is a cone shaped washer, followed by an insulating washer, then the U shaped piece and the flat washer and nut. Thats the parts that came out of mine. I was worried about a short, but eventually figured out an order that would work.
Thanks Guys

In your last post I realized you disassembled the part to component level.
You need to concentrate on what you're doing and not about how to hit a little white ball in a hole. j/k
