You should check voltage at the fuse with a dvm. It's possible you disturbed the fuse links around the battery- I believe there is a bunch block with a bunch of power leads tied together. Do you have a helms manual with wiring diagrams?? It would really help in assisting you.
....before ya do anything, re-"disconect" the battery for a min or so and re-connect and see what happens....could be fuel sender unit defective or most probably sticking althogh replacing the battery should have not had anything to do with it....
