Default Smoking gas recirculation line from header

The other day the abestos cover on the gas recirculation tube started to smoke. Thought it was somekinf from oil or some other fluid but there appears to be nothinng on the mesh itself. The mesh is turning back so i guess it is actually starting to cook from the heat. What would cause the excessive heat ? this just started a few days ago. Any help would be appreciated. Also noticed now its hard to start when Hot.

Could it be a leaky injector , or EGR Valve, and other thoughts would be appreciate.

15000 miles on rebuild with hotcam .

Yes. First check for trouble codes. Trouble shoot and correct any of them. Then start trouble shooting your suspicions.

I'm not certain, but I think that a leak could cause a problem and cracks do develop, especially in the accordian section if it is moved. I say that I'm not certain because I'm not sure if the gases would be any hotter than the tube and therefore not certain that their escaping into the shield at a single point would cause it to exceed its normal range. Perhaps someone has direct experience.

What do you mean, "Beats me whats going on." You came up with two possibilities on your own.

I responded with advice to that comment. Did you not read the "Then start trouble shooting your suspicions."?
