Default C4's are Poor Drag Cars?

Went to the local strip (Numidia Dragway) friday night and staged my car for the first time shot. As I pre staged I heard the announcer say:
"Up now is Pete Kane in his 87 corvette. C4 corvettes are not at all well suited to drag racing, and should be a mid to high 14 second car, on a good day".

Tree came down, and I whacked out a .021 light, cut a 1.640 60' time and ran 12.14 @113.
Made him eat some humble pie

Entry fee $25
Look on the announcers face, Priceless

Well of course he was suprised he had gotten the information from his always right source of b!%$& racing (bench racing) with his buddy cletus after talking about making a straight through exhaust out of a fence pole

He was a cool dude
He made it a point to come over, and make a few nice compliments. He called my car a "bitchen sleeper".

What a dork announcer. Know your facts before you say it outloud dude. He's probably a Ford lover.

He was not too observent in quoting stats for a bone stock L98 while not noticing your water burn out on wide slicks...

Following the NHRA race from Dallas on-line this afternoon, I see John Force just tangled with K. Bernstein on the top end and had a serious accident. Two broken legs, and life flighted to the hospital, not his best year that is for sure.

Congratulations! I just ran at Atlanta Dragway last Friday, and did indeed get mid-14's in my bone stock C4. Guess he didn't know what you were packing.

Default Announcer

Pete, That is a great story and I am guessing the people who saw the timing boards were all smiles.

I was at Commerce last fall and had a great time. Ran at Silver Dollar a few months ago, and loved that place.

My family and friends got a big kick out of it. Track changed owners and staff a year ago, so I was an unfamiliar face (to them anyway).
I have been racing my 87 at that track since 1992, but not often in the past 2 years.
I am moving to New Hampshire on friday september 28 (next week), and thought I would try my best to win a few rounds on my final day at Numidia.
After 6 rounds, I won my class, then won the "race off" of the class winners.
Perfect way to end my day, and take a fond memory with me. A sentimental day for sure.
The announcer took my photo in the winners circle, and was quite impressed overall with the car. He saw the N2o solenoids and thought that was my ace in the hole. When I showed him the empty bottle brackets, I got to see "that priceless look" again
