Default Rocking Chair Seat Syndrome Fix?

I vaguely recall reading a thread about this earlier this summer. I can't seem to find it in the archives though. :( Someone was going to take out their seats and see if they could determine what was causing the problem. Anyone figure out the fix? What does it take, cost, effort, time wise? Thanks. :seeya

My driver seat rocks enough to annoy me. When I had the seat cushions out I grabbed the frame and yanked it a bit to make it rock and see where the play was. As far as I can tell, the slop is in the power seat tracks. The seat is firmly attached to the seat track and the track base is firmly attached to the floor. When I wiggle the seat there is definite independent movement between the upper and lower seat track parts. I put the seat cushions back on as I didn't feel like disassembling the power tracks at the time.

Well if you sit in the seat and then lean forwards and then backwards you can feel a little bit of play in the seat - sort of like a rocking chair. It's only a fraction of an inch of movement, but enough to feel like it's loose or not bolted down fully or something. And it's not the back loose from the base, because it's independent of back angle - it's an entire motion of the seat.

Thanks for the feedback. :) I wonder if there are bushings or teflon guides something running in that track which are getting worn and which can be replaced....

My 94 drivers seat did that. There are some bolts that go through the track hardware that were loose. You'll have to remove the seat to get to them. Be sure to fix them because loose seat bolts can strip and create more problems.

The C5's have this same problem. I even have the problem on my daily driver Honda Accord with electric seats.

Thanks AquaMetallic94LT1! As I said I ddin't remove seat frames to look at the tracks that closely. It's is good to hear that I can fix this easily! I'll get on it today before I do any more damage to the track.

The seat rocking problem is in the main cross shaft at the front of the seat track. Over time they wear on the ends and this will result in play. The only fix I know for this is to replace the seat track. The seat tracks are all the same from 84-96. Right and left are different.
