Default 4L60E to 4L80E conversion / adapter kit

I came across this website today that listed an adapter kit for the conversion. Is this in production yet? Has anyone installed one in place of their 4L60E?

Here is the description.

"2006 - 4L80E in C4 Corvette Adapter Kit (1984 - 1996). Swap your 700R4 / 4L60E transmission to the much stronger 4L80E transmission with our new double strength case hardened output shaft and adapter kit. At this time we have in development an adapter kit for the C4 Corvette to replace your 700R4 / 4L60E transmission with the much stronger 4L80E transmission. This 4L80E transmission will be the same length as your 700R4 / 4L60E transmission making it possible to reuse your existing 27 spline driveshaft and C-beam. This is the worlds first 700R4 / 4L60E to 4L80E swap direct replacement. All that needs to be changed on the 4L80E transmission is the tail housing and output shaft. The full manual shift model works without a computer."

You have to scroll down some but it's there.

Does that mean that without an expensive controller like hgh pwr mentioned you need to shift it manually all the time?

I think if you have a 4L60E, the computer will control the 4L80E.

Where is Pete when you need him.

And yes, AFAIK, the controller is required, otherwise, the tranny and the TC won't know when to do whatever.

The baddest of the bad, this is a non-electronic 4L80E transmission. no electronics needed get a 2500 3000 stall converter and shift it yourself

That is what it means. Every gear, up or down, must be selected. In my opinion, unacceptable for normal street use. Others may certainly disagree.

The tail shaft piece is 699.00 the computer is 1k and the whole set up when your done is around 6k.Yes the 4L80 is like a 700r4 manuel valve body shift up and shift down. You just don't have a clutch
That piece has been out from Raptor trans for about a year and a half now.

They have a full conversion now for around $5k. Anyone have this, just curious? My trans and TCI converter just died but I don't think I can afford something like this at this time. I'm not interested in the manual shift option.

Other con's on using a 4L80 is that they are very Heavy and big.. they also take more HP to turn the Trans.. you will have a net lost of HP to the rear wheel.

But if you feel you need it.. then go for it...

hmm.. Like I said I can't afford it anyways. I never heard of anyone doing this conversion. I guess if someone was pushing a whole lot of power than it may be worth it.
