No I don't think so. I had my 1993 up just above 150mph so I would not worry if I was you. Be more concerned about traffic, pedestrians, your tires, and your car.

150 MPH, thats cool. I take it you have a manual transmission? I have a auto, so probally a little slower...i guess......Tyring to find a track or strip around here somewhere to find out.........never, on public roads..

There is no governor and it SHOULD run 160-168mph somewhere in that range. You'll run over 100mph in a 1/4 mile stock

Governed only by the weight of your right foot and the size of your brain.

Governed by horsepower(or lack there of), traction, friction and aerodynamic drag.

Apparently it does have an RPM limiter, but not a MPH "governer".

Let me know if you find a track in the PNW where you can do top speed runs. I'm up in Seattle and starting a forced induction project on a quest for 200mph.

Yep, my '92 automatic Roadster will only pull a sustained 148.

Yes it is because there is a rev limiter. My '95 LT1 took 172 mph untill the fuel did cut off (5850 rpm). I measured with GPS-perf box. I have a stock heads and cam. Next i need more revs.

Default Agree with Timo

The "Official" GM cutoff is "above approximately 5800 RPM" (page 6-737 of the Service Manual).

Well the LT1 in my 93 6spd is good for 165 and maybe a couple more miles an hour. That was in 5th and right at the top of the rev range but before fuel cutoff...I didn't think hitting the fuel cutoff under those conditions was such a great idea. 6th gear at 165 kept me going at that speed a few more seconds but zero increase.

Under the traditional use of the term "governed"... No, the LT1 CORVETTE is not, but in stock form you aren't going to be going any faster than that.

I had 152 in my 92 auto, no idea what rpms though.

The LT1 has a 255 mph fuel cut-off speed. But as others have stated, aero and HP will limit you long before 255 mph.
