I have bought runners from TPIS and they loo super and flow much better than stock. Just state your corvette year and they send the right ones. I detected that the falloff of power was moved soem hundred rpms upwards

Good luck getting the TPIS/AS&M runners. Unless they started making them again you will get the "back order" song and dance until you give up and move on.......

I have the Accel(Lingenfelter) runners that have a ton of material to port and they seem to work pretty well.

I'm running Edelbrock Hi-Flo Runners and Intake. Looks really close to stock and flows great.

Did you dyno with the stock runners and then with the Edelbrock runners? What kind of power difference did you see?

Best thing to do is port the plenum, then buy some AS&M runners and port those, and buy a TPiS or Accel base.

Those runners look great! Too bad ASM runners don't look like that.

Edelbrock runners look the best!Completes the look of the TPI way better than stock looking large tubes.

Anyways,no larger runners is going to change your engines power much until you get inside the engine first.5-10 Hp,If youre LUCKY,for around 350-500 bucks isnt ideal to me.An exhaust system change is better for the money.

So be sure you want to spend the money on them large runners.

While the larger runners can flow more air due to size, the stock engine is already being fed enough air with the stock tubes, albeit a low rpm cut off...its the runner LENGTH of the TPI system that holds it back.Thats why alot of modified engines end up with the SR,MR or a different intake set up.They are shorter in design.

I also agree with Vader about the porting/ intake change mods for best results with the system. Then youre gonna be out alot of money though for a few more ponies.

Maybe wait and see if BBK comes though with their new TPI set up and see if it delivers an increase in power for the money spent.

Thats another thing...your stock TPI runners will "FEEL" faster off the line compared to larger tube systems, especially if you dont have engine work to take advantage of it.

I tried SLP runners, and lost SOTP feeling but the power was moved in a later rpm band, not by much though. These had no real gains in a magazine test though.I went back to stock.

If youre spoiled by your engines "torquey" feel off the line, changing the intake system on a stock engine might make it "feel" slower to you, unless you race at the 1/4 mile all the time and want to see every few tenths you can gain at the track.

I havent dynoed the car yet, but I plan on doing it soon. I won't have a hp comparison between stock and the Edelbrock runners because the whole engine was rebuilt.

Bill's comments are dead on from my experience. I also have an 86'. I put on TPIS long tube headers, and later their base manifold, runners and had them port my plenum.

I tried to get a base line dyno, but some crazy vette broke the dyno 5 cars before my pull!

After I installed the headers and a high flow cat, I pulled 213.5HP and 309.0 Lb/Ft. After the intake swap the numbers were 230.0HP and 326.9 lb/Ft on the same dyno.

As Bill stated, I did feel like I lost a little off the line torque, but I gained power above 3000RPM noticably.

Had I known the $/HP ratio was going to be like this, I probably would have looked more closly at a miniram, heads and cam setup. I am not saying the mods are bad, they do improve things, but it's quite a bit of money for a few HP.

I like the SLP's best. They have the most material available to remove ! LOL ! You can also siamese them further than SLP does. This lets you rev higher. I have run or had in my hands all the aftermarket runners currently available. The quality control is garbage on the SLP but it's not much worse than anybody else. Check out my website to see what can be done with the SLP's and your plenum: Corvetteplenum.com

Also, Like it says in previous posts. Don't expect it to turn from a dog into a scalded cat with just a few bolt-ons. A base is almost certainly mandatory. Cam is a REAL step toward making good horsepower.

actually for any one wanting to know, slp isnt the only runners you can remove the most material out of !!!!f.i.r.s.t runners and base can have lots of material removed as well.

hello mike, yep you are rite about that, expensive!
$ 999.00 complete,but still well worth it.
base,runners,plenum,70 mm single mono blade throttle body.
and none of these parts are interchangeble with other type tpi systems.

Default AS&M Runners

I'm currently running AS&M runners with an Accel Base on my '90. They are going to be replaced with a SR, etc. I purchased here from Kwik88 but I wasn't going to do that until August. Are you interested? Can you wait? If you are interested let me know. I'll get part numbers & pricing. I'm in AZ near Exotic Muscle. Good luck with your search.
