Wouldn't ported stokers be easier for your Kalifornia visual inspection?

I like my ported stokers; but for aftermarket heads I'd buy these.

As for the Edelbrock LT1 Heads I haven't seen anything good on them that wasn't an AD or someone shilling them.

So you've asked everyone then?

I hate to say it but by Edelbrock's own claim of only 24 HP that's a very lackluster head. A well ported stocker will far outperform that. AI, Lloyd Elliott and many others can provide much more bang for your buck. Other than that, it appears that your program is right on track. Should be a fun package, either way.

For the price, I wouldn't go Edelbrock either, but port your stockers. TFS heads are 195cc out of the box with bigger vavles compared to Edelbrocks 180cc and stock sized valves. Price I believe is not much more either. AFR's are awesome but price is higher. Now do you need the Knock sensor module with a custom tune? I am a 92 so never had to worry about that.

I have Edelbrock Performers on my '85 and they're great. I have the 60759 heads. They are 50 state legal and come with a sticker that you can put on your radiator shroud if you live in California.

Like some others have mentioned, I would recommend you have your stock heads ported. I had mine done over 2 years ago by Bob of Precision Porting. Bob did a great job. I only opted for the Stage 2 heads, and with my auto, LT1, hot cam, 4.10's and full exhaust, I ran 11.90's @116.52.

Who is doing the work and the tune? I am really interested in the results, especially if you have any difficulty passing smog. Maybe it will be ready in time for dyno day:

I doubt if it will be done by then but maybe, hope so though. I would love to go to dyno day.....

Pat Hendrix & his crew & Precision Motive in Hayward http://precisionmotive.com/ will be doing the work, then he's sending me to a guy up by Sacramento for the custom tune..........
