Who drives their corvette in the winter?
All right... i'm sure this has been asked before, but here goes...
(easy on the flames, i'm still a newbie.:blueangel: )
Do you love driving your corvette SO MUCH that you will drive it YEAR ROUND???
And yes, I am toying with the idea, after surviving two Wisconsin winters with a camaro.
(whoops, sorry, should've put this in Gen'l Discussion...)

Only if teh snow is deep.
Earlier this year driving back from Florida I hit freezing rain in NC and some big time snow in VA. Took me 8 hours to go 41 miles due to traffic problems, people were crashing into each other all over the place. Luckily I missed the 120 car pileup.
ASR doesn't work too well in the snow and ice.

In Nov or early Dec I put Blizzaks all around and keep on driving my 87 everyday just like I have been doing with every vette I have owned starting with a 64.

I drive it in the winter until heavy snow comes... then I park it, this year maybe in the garage, and drive something with front wheel drive, probably a nissan sentra, mid 80s.

I did last year, and wouldn't think twice about it this winter also! The car is perfectly fine, snow, ice, whatever. It's a car.... there are more throttle positions besides 0% and 100%. I washed the undercarriage once a week to keep any salt off, and she's perfectly fine this year.

Re: (scorp508)
This will be my first winter with the 88 and I have always driven my HP cars year round. I can vouch for the fact that Scorp's car is VERY clean and you would never know its a 365 car. Of course if the snow is so deep that the spoiler starts plowing snow, I have a POS 86 Dodge 4X4 that I plow my driveway with.

Re: Who drives their corvette in the winter? (new92racer)
All winter long. Its my only ride so you do what you have to. I do have access walking distance from my place to the train so I avoid actual snow days if possible. I also have been known to take my girlfiends Eclypse GS-T Spyder from time to time to avoid snow. I grew up skiing and used to go to vermont in the snow in my IROC with my buddy. Driving around here is easy compared to that. This year I may though get a set of snow tires for the stock rims as I am getting a second set of GS rims. Any Ideas on tires for our car in the snow? My girlfriend is also trading in the GS-T end of the year. I'm working her over for a Tahoe(In black).

Winters here tend to be pretty mild as long as you stay on the Front Range. I will probably drive mine when the roads are dry, which is most of the time. When it snows it only stays on the ground a fews usually, so I will drive my truck then. Of course the mountains are very snowy, no Vette in the MTNS in winter, I am too fond of it.

Of course i do why not. Snow or no snow it's just bad once it comes down. When your home and they plow it's like driving in the rain.

My 88 only goes out in the winter on clear dry days. I have a van for the everyday driving. It's just not worth the hassle trying to get a car like this to navigate through snow. My driveway is kinda steep. Theres no way the Vet could make it up in snow.

My IROC gets put up before the first salt of the year. There's no way I'm subjecting my IROC to the salt. Not after the amount of blood, sweat and tears that I've shed for it. I've driven an f-body every winter since I was 16 (sans for 1 white-knuckled year in a Cherokee) and will do so again this year... but not my IROC. I plan on keeping this car for the long haul, and subjecting it to salt just is not tolerable to me.
My GTA will stay on the road for the winter, but will only go out on dry days. Fortunately around here, it snows like hell for a day or 2, then stays pretty much dry for extended periods of time. Not like Rochester where it snows every shooted day. You should see how bad my cars would rust after just 1 or 2 winters out there. The lake effect snow would dump an inch or 2 every single night, which meant that every morning the roads were soaked with salt.
