Default How to replace EGR valve on 95' LT1 Vette?

We are trying to replace the EGR valve on my Dad's 95' LT1 Vette.
I have done this before on my 96' Impala SS LT1 but Dad's car is slightly different.
The Impala has 2 bolts that hold the EGR in place but Dad's Vette has 2 washers on threaded studs instead!
We can remove the washers from studs but we can't pull off the EGR as we run into this white tube mounted directly behind the EGR valve.

Do we need to remove this white tube in order to pull off the EGR?
If yes, how do we remove the white tube and what is it?

Thanks to all,
Zak

P.S. I did try searching but only found reference to L98 engines.

Dad's Haynes manual also doesn't make reference, they instruct to simply remove bolts to remove EGR valve.
I will try to describe it from memory:

It's a white plastic tube which is mated to something steel from below, the tube has a solenoid or sensor on top with a wired connector.
It's very solid (no play) as I checked to see if we could remove it.

If this doesn't help I will try and get pics.

Thanks,
Zak

Zak,

That tube sounds like the air tube that goes from the pass side header to the egr feed in the back of the intake. It has a white cloth heat sheild of some kind on it. You can unbolt it from the back of the intake and the header. I believe there is also a screw that bolts to either the head or the block which holds a bracket that is welded to the tube.

Doesn't the EGR system, as part of the emissions control equipment, carry a federally mandated 100,000 mile warranty?

I think it's out of warranty around 6 or 7 years & 70K?
