Default Anyone live in the Boston area good with electrical

I have an 86 vette that appears to have an electrical issue with the alternator/charging system. I have replaced the alt. 3 times already and it seems to be going bad .

I had the same problem you did, and found out there was a splice in the power wire from alt to battery and the spliced area had aluminum heat tape wrapped around it causing drainage which in turn would were down the rector part inside the alt. Course you could have a different problem--just a tip to look for, check your wires first and ground on alt

You're in Everett? I work in Chelsea. Maybe I could swing by some night with a multimeter and shop manual. The 86 should be close to my 87.
