92 6speedshifting help
Have a 92 with 51000 on it just after first start-up when taking off if i drive off in first then put in netral to come to a stop with cluch out i hear a light spining gear noise if i put the cluch in noise goes away everything shifts good been driving it for a while like this just trying to get a $$$$ amount on how much this will cost

Change the oil in the trans to the Castrol stuff listed on the ZF website. Most of these things make noise when idling in neutral. If it's real loud it may be the input bearing in the trans, but I think you will find for the most part it is normal.

Our ZF's are NOT the most quiet gearboxes in the universe.
They ARE tough as can be, and that's a decent trade-off.

I have 42k on mine and it does the same thing. I'm told that it's normal.

if it's a quiet whining sound, then it should be normal. it's been doing it on my 92 since i got it. the ZF trans on our 92's are notoriously noisy.

I guess it's a trade mark of a 92 zf .Ok i'll save the money on that but the car still gets my money at $3.10 a gal oh well aleast it's fun and never says no.
