What headers for AFR angle plug heads?
Hookers will not fit, per hooker. It is an '87. What are my options? Thanks

Re: What headers for AFR angle plug heads? (codyusa)
I"ve got the AFR angle plug heads and running TPIS headers. fit is pretty good, some of the plug wires are close to header but I can get the plugs in and out pretty easy. just wish they were thicker tubing or stainless steel?

What is the difference between AFR angle plug heads and stock LT1's?

I have an 86 with the AFR angle plug heads, and I have the Hooker 2149 Headers on it. You have to remember, Holley recently bought Hooker out, and their tech is maybe not what it should or could be. You will need to cut a slot in a spark plug socket to get to several of the plugs, but you can get them out. you will need to notch out about 3/8 or an inch out of the socket, but not all the way to the end, so that it can grip the plug. Don't have a digi camera or I would post a pic of mine.

I beg to differ Black Bart. I have both the TPIS headers and AFR angle plug Vette heads. Number 7 tube needs to be banged in pretty good to clear. Lots of peopel also report this. Plug changing is als easy.

Re: What headers for AFR angle plug heads? (89vette)
Maybe you have older headers than i have mine clears so well that i even put several wraps of header wrap around mine and still have room to remove the plugs. I don't know but perhaps they have changed them but mine is perfect fit only thing i don't like is the increased heat in the car even with wrap the stock exhaust was cooler :boxing

The Hooker's are 1 3/4 inch. the fit is excellent, just need to work a little to get the plugs out, but can be done.

Having recently gone through this...there are three styles of AFRs: Straight, angled, or L98 Angled. If you have the L98 angled you should be fine. If you just have the angled, don't bother with the hookers.

Re: What headers for AFR angle plug heads? (Warlock)
Thanks warlock for that info I knew mine fit perfect i have AFR heads with the
L 98 angle and when i ordered my headers i told them i had L98 angle and they said they would fit and they do. Just one more thing that a person has to look out for when modifying his engine. That is what is good about this forum is to share experiences and maybe keep someone from making costly mistakes that we already made. :seeya :seeya
