Re: another Z51 question (scorp508)
Early Z51s did not come with Bilstein shocks they were standard looking black shocks. Koni were the first good replacement shocks for the Z51 cars.

David-F Sorry but early Z51 cars did come with only the yellow Bilstein shocks. My early 85 and my 88 Z51 cars both came with and still have their yellow Bilsteins. Check the black book too. As to replacements Bilsteins and about the best shock there is. I have not tried Hals but i have tried Koni's and while they are good they did not last as long as my Bilsteins. While other shocks may cost a 1/3 or a 1/4 their price they will also only last a 1/4 of their service life and will never work as well, i.e, heat fade, etc.

My '84 Z-51 is all original with only 40,000 miles on it. It has BLACK shocks.
