1. have my orginal Bilstein rebuilt?
2. replace the orginal shocks with new Bilstein?
3. replace the OEM shocks with KYBs?
4. or replace them with Tokicos?
5. may be replace them with Monroes and save some money?

I wanted the smoothiest ride possible for my 92 and I bought Edelbrocks and I was not disappointed. They might not be for you since you drive it only on the weekends and they are pricey.
KYB , Koni's and Tokicos are fine options.

My 94 has KONI adjustables in it. I always thought they were bull**** stiff, but since i adjusted them to the softest setting, they are beautiful. The quality of these units is top notch and even though the cost seems outrageous, they will by far outlast anything else so im lead to believe, so it comes down to the old saying, you get what you pay for!! I strongly recomend the KONI adjustables.

For the money, the KYB Gas-A-Just will probably be the best selection. You can find them at Summit Racing for around $30 each. These are great shocks for the money.
Replacing the OEM Bilsteins with new ones will be on the order of $280 for a set of 4. There are some Forum supporting vendors that have them for around that price. Rebuilding the base shocks will cost as much if not more than buying new Bilsteins.
What suspension is on the car now?? Base FE1? FX3 Selective Ride Control? Z07 Sport Suspension (comes with FX3).

Actually I am considering replacing the shocks on my own 96 this spring, and the more I research the more convinced I am that Edelbrock shocks are the way to go.

IMHO, a good set of Bilsteins will give you the best overall ride and performance. GM put a LOT of effort into getting the Bilsteins just right for the C4. Since the cost of rebuilding an old set is almost as much as a new set, and you do without shocks on your car while the originals are being rebuilt, I feel that it is better to buy new.
However, I have had both Bilsteins and KYBs on my Vette and given that you drive the Vette only on weekends and don't race or push the car real hard, I'd agree with some of the other posters and suggect KYBs for you. The KYB shock will be a bit softer than the stock Bilstein shocks. I feel that they are about 80% as good as Bilsteins for 50% of the price. Dollar for dollar the KYB is your best choice given your stated needs. Order them from Summit and put them on yourself. Shouldn't take more than a couple of beers and an hours time tops. Easy, simple, relatively cheap fix.

Another vote for the KYB's. They feel stiffer than the old Bilsteins (but they may soften a bit with time) and I am very happy with them, especially for the price since I don't race my vehicle.

I recently installed a set of KYB's which replaced the origionals that had over 100000 miles on them. A great replacement for the price.
Try Summit Racing, they're around $30.00 each and know them to be a fine product. Good luck.

They were the WORST shocks I've ever used. I simply HATED them.
Seems opinions differ somewhat on shock preference.

The man listed four choices. Those of you who can't refrain from telling us you put Koni, Edelbrock, QA-1's, etc. on your car might just as well not have posted.
Of your four, boonie, I'd go with #2. I have several reasons for choosing this, but they aren't that important to this thread.
