Default 88 Vette cluster lights

Need help..... Got a new rebuilt guage cluster for my 88 vette because the other one had major problems including one problem I am having with this one too. Installed it, and the #s do not light up but you can see the display is working. Both turn signals and hi beam indicator are on and will not go out. has anyone ever seen or heard of this problem and how can it be fixed???

Much Obliged to www.corvetteforum.com,

Carl

Did you get a complete gauge cluster? When I bought my 88 there was an issue with the backlighting on the gauge cluster, replacing the bulbs fixed that. But it seems you may have a wiring or grounding issue if some of the lights are on all the time. Or is there an issue with the contacts between the boards, what did you replace?

There is definitely a tech article on this somewhere, in which i used to repair internal ground fault issues; loose solder joints at board (main) pins. Fixed 3 of them sucessfully, but it has been a while. Surely someone will chime in here.....until then, try searching the tech archives; there are pics and all to help. :

Yes complete cluster from eBay, said to have 15k miles and showed pic of lights working in listing. We have had the tranny out a couple of times and it might be a ground issue, but we have had this problem for a while and cannot seem to narrow down, does anyone know where I can get a Pin layout to the dash??

Much Obliged,

Default Not sure about yours...but

My 84 had ground problems. The fix for that was to splice into the black and white(if I remember right) wire, and run a new ground for that. That solved my problem for that, and there is a thread here somewhere that addresses that issue. I'd check your wiring to make sure the colors are the same on yours.
