Default FEL-PRO gaskets

I am going to do a gasket overhaul on my 95.
Does fel- pro make a complete gasket kit for
the LT1's. Whats the best Kit to get?? I was
thinking it would be fel-pro, unless you guys
tell me different

felpro is very good.

when you do the intake, hit the manifold and block areas where the RTV seals with a good steel brush to make sure it's perfectly clean and then hit those mating surfaces with a drill to dimple them in a random manner. This combined with the Right Stuff or Copper RTV will make for a nearly perfect seal.

That's about it!

with bogus....the 'Right Stuff' is the right stuff for the front and back of the intake manifold. I also used del-pro, and they were a perfect fit...going on about a year now, and not a hint of a leak..

I used Fel-pro stuff as well on my recent rebuild. All of them were nice, and they come in grouped sets (intake has TB, intake egr, etc...Oil pan has gaskets for the oil filter relocated, Timing gasket included water pump, etc) which made things easier. Buy all the sets, then take stock and see if you need to supplement any other individual gaskets.

The intake gasket set actually includes a small tube of black ATV for the front and back of the manifold.

The oil pan gasket was a work of art, incorporating anti-crush bushings at each bolt hole to prevent smooshing the gasket if you over-tighten.

i've used Fel-pro intake manifold gaskets and i also vouch for them. i did need to use a thin film of black RTV around the ports, however, despite some suggestions that the gaskets be installed dry.

I probably spent over $120 in gaskets. I thought the oil pan set was the highest at $35, but I don't have the receipt for the head gaskets. How much were they?

BTW, don't know where you live but Advanced Auto Parts had all of the Fel-Pro stuff, most of it in stock. If there's one near you I'd go there.

That seems way too high. I don't remember what mine was, but it was the stock Fel-pro and I know I would have remembered a cost that high.

Have you tried using local autoparts dealers such as AutoZone, O'reilly, Pep Boys, NAPA etc. I know autozone carries fel pro and I am sure the others do too. They will probably be cheaper than Summit for these parts because they are so common. Although I have an L98, I bought all of my manifold gaskets and head gaskets from Autozone - in stock.

I am not sure if they stock the different headgasket thicknesses but it is worth a try.

Without checking the headgasket thickness, here are the stock gaskets that O'Reilly shows.

Headgasket Set - HS9966PT2 - 159.99
Conversion Set (Includes all the other gaskets to cmplete the engine) - CS9966 - 58.99
Headbolt Sets - ES72856 - 2 required(1 for each head) 16.99 x 2, 33.98.

Grand total of 252.96 + tax.
