Default Hood support for D-1 installation ?

We recently added an ATI D-1 SC on my '89 L98 but lost clearance under the hood for the support rod assembly. Anyone know of a "clean" alternatove hood support solution ? Does anyone know if an earlier 84-87 scissor support would work ? Any help would sure be appreciated. No, I do not want to carry a broom stick around.......
Thx,
Rick

Don't use a broom handle, hood will fall on head and it hurts.

Sad to say I had it happen to me.

Yea, dont build a temporary one out of angle Iron, then forget you set it on the tire in the front wheelwell, and roll the car back, poking a hole in the hood. It sucks bigtime.
