Default Idle

Hi I have a 1986 late model vett I was just wanting to know if any one can tell me how to get the IDLE up a bit right now it IDLES at 6 - 7 when it gets hot out it will go down to 5 is there any way to keep this steady Thank you all for you time

You can only adjust minimum idle, after that the ecm controls idle rpm.
A good cleaning of the TB including removing the IAC and cleaning it and the seat and passages. Then set your min idle and TPS. https://www.corvetteforum.com/techti...D=55&TopicID=2

We have tried, and failed, to trick the engine into idling higher to compensate for larger cams etc. The only way that worked was to reprogram the prom.

For an '86 you need a chip burner and the software to do it.

Play with the idle adj screw on the TB.

Hey Dude, all you have to do is bump up the minimum voltage setting on the TPS. Stock I think is .52v and you can bump it up to .6 and the rpms will be up a good bit higher.
