I was thinking, if I am going to pull the heads for my valve spring issue, might as well pulll the motor and do a cam upgrade, as the Hot Cam is nice, but I could have a little more. I am going to have a month off here in a week. Need advice, tools, tranny issues? Anything. I did this a year or so ago, but just need to make sure that everything is in order before I take the plung.

RU sure a month is enough time LOL? It's a pain in the butt to pull the bottom of that engine, but if it needs to come out, you gotta bite the bullet. If your just going to do the cam, I think you can do that without pulling the block. I think you can unbolt the mounts and lift it so you can get the cam all the way out.

Yes, you can just lift the motor slightly to remove the cam. The heads are easy enough to do in the car as well. Just remove the radiator and lift the motor about an inch and you can pull the cam.

I actually saw a show on TV where a guy attached his engine to the hoist, raised it (car still attached) and then hammered the car back down to the ground

LT1's aren't hard motors to pull at all, you can pull it in an afternoon pretty easily. If you have an auto, the top bellhousing bolts are the only thing that is hard about the pull. I don't think you need to pull the whole engine to do a cam swap though...

Its more than a cam swap, I woul do heads and some other minor things, and having the motor out is a real nice thing when working on it.
