Default L98 Chips & SD vs. MAF: For Chip Is It Easier to Recalibrate?

wanted to ask the tuning gurus who successfully burn chips with Speed Density and MAF systems.......Is the SD system ECM chip easier to tune, or the MAF?

As far as the physical aspects of programing, both are the same to do. However a MAF control strategy is much more forgiving to tune than a Speed Density strategy. You have to do a lot more dataloging and make many more changes to the VE maps with a SD system before you can call it done. When one changes a cam in a SD strategy one basically will have to remap the VE tables. There are tools to help with doing this based on scan readings. One such tool is VE Master for the $8D mask. Using either Datamaster or Diacom one datalogs for several minutes in the problem areas, then using VE Master a new bin file is iterated using mathmatical calculations to change the VE tables in the BIN file. Using a load bearing chassis dyno helps immensely when tuning SD controlled cars, with such a dyno the engine can be loaded at a given RPM or speed for the tuner to make his VE adjustments.

Tom, thanks. That's just what I'll do.....local dyno & get the .bin file based on the results, for evaluation.
