What would be the downside of putting a Camaro chip into my 89?

Saw a Firebird/Camaro chip for sale...it's the same year as my 89 what is different? They are both TPI...both MAF....both 700R4 ????

What's the upside?

What mods are on your 89 that you're looking to enhance with the use of an aftermarket chip?

Is this a stock camaro chip or aftermarket? Most vette chips (factory) are hotter than factory camaro chips if thats what you want to know. A mildly improved camaro chip may be a stock vette chip, somebody may be burning vette bins and selling them as a performance upgrade to camaro owners. Just a thought. What are you looking to do?

My '89 has a cat back system and the fan switches that keep the coolant temp below 205F. Other than that it is pretty stock. The chip I was looking at was a Jet stage 2.

One difference I believe is the vats system on a vette is not on a camaro. But I could be wrong.
